I'm wanting to start a new social group for those of us with depression (of any others who are interested) and have trouble getting motivated to keep our homes de-clutter.

There is a book "The Flylady" by Marla Cilley (from 2002) that someone suggested to me to help me get started. I've felt overwhelmed and underappreciated by others who live in the house, and felt like I can't have anyone over because my living room is such a mess..... it has helped me to feel better about what I did do. In the beginning of the book she talks about learning to love yourself. (FLY=finally loving yourself)

It is just a guide or tool, but I went to the used book store, got it and I've started. I'm only done with the first chapter. but it is working to keep me moving.

What I'd like to do here at PC is have our own "little club" where we follow along with the book. It isn't rule #1 is to do this and rule #2 is to do that sort of book, but she does have homework assignments! It gives structure in doing little 10 minutes tasks. It is meant as a just jump in and do the first thing so you have a sense of getting something done. If there is something she suggests that doesn't apply to you, do something else.

By using the book as a guide, we will have structure rather than feeling overwhelmed by the amount of work to do to clean our space! Marla Cilley also has a website, but I don't want to join that, I want to do it on PC with you all!

If interested let me know and we will be here to encourage each other over specific issues.

There used to be something on Yahoo Groups from the FLYlady. I would get daily emails about tips for cleaning up clutter and how to organize your life. It seemed helpful - I only tried a couple of the ideas, but the ones that I tried, worked really well.
Thanks for this!

Thanks sunangel

Thanks, I know that there is a flylady web site as well. I didn't know there was a group on google.

But I wanted to do something here with my PC friends. When my daughter first mentioned it to me a few years ago she said she had a group of friends that called each other as they went about their days to keep accountable.

Since I only have just one irl friend that I talk with and hang out with one a regular basis, that wouldn't be the most idea for me. Besides, she keeps up and has a very clean, clutter free home. She enjoys cleaning.

All of my family live out of state and so I dont have some of the usual support people living near me. So that is why I feel it would be helpful for me.

So if you'd like to visit with others just FLY in whenever you like.

Yeah! great start up list so far! After I get my sink cleaned up ect I'll see if I can get a new social group started.

I'd think that with fibro, this may be a good way to build on a routine. Glad you are interested jk!

I might be down for this. I've tried flylady before on her site. I stuck with it for 2 weeks and then stopped. That's the thing with me...I'm all gun ho about it, and then I let it fall apart. Hmm...

Well then, JenIsAlwaysSick, that's what I'm talking about. If we all could work at it together, some days I'm up and firing on all 2 ???) carborators. I have no clue how many carborators humans might have, if we had them, but what the hay.............. other days not so much. Those are the times I need someone to help me put my FLYING suit back on.

Thanks now you can make it to 3 weeks. I feel it in my bones!
