HI and welcome back!!!
I am new to this website so I don't know you. plus I live in Canada.
I was wondering what exactly is treatment resistant depression, I havenever heard of it.???
I am just curious!!!!
I always though that depression could be treated succesfuly with the right meds and therapy, am I wrong?. or is it treatment that just has not worked yet???
Sorrry if this sounds negative, it is not meant that way, I just don't understand.

Treatment resistant depression is depression that has failed multiple treatments including ect, medications, and other standard therapies. Have litterally been on all the drugs available except for MOAIs have had 18 ect treatments, been in the hosp multiple times, been to multiple pdocs and therapists. That is as good as a definiation as I know, and yes I have been faithful in my drug regiemes, my followup appointments, therapy sessions etc. It is the diagnosis currently on my file at each of the above docs, therapists and hosp. Been treated unsuccesfully for many many years, seem to get no better but do have many days when it is worse.

Oh ok, so it pretty much is stating the obvious hehe, I don't know a lot about all this side of things because ive never gone to the dr about it, I know acouple of people who have but I havent looked into it.

Are there different medications for different deprressions? Or different severities perhaps?

I hope its not rude me asking, just tell me if im out of line

Hi Pooh AC
Thank you so much for helping me to understand what this is.
I feel real bad for you going through all you have gone through, you seem to be a strong person.
I have been depressed for a very long time, but did not realise it until about 6 years ago.
I have been on many different kinds of meds, but never had ect.
I have also been diog. with PTSD and boarderline personality disorder.
I am hoping that someday I will get better.
I really hope for your docs etc. to help you find something that just might work to help you get better.
My thoughts are with you
Take Care and DON"T GIVE UP HOPE!!!!!!
Keep Posting

Hi pooh_ac. I am fairly new here too. I'm 49 and have also had ect and numerous trials on drugs because depression has reoccurred throughout my life. I am finally on the right drugs now I think. When I get down I am able to pull myself out of it unlike times in the past. Don't give up on the drugs. I know it makes you feel like a guinea pig sometimes when you have to keep trying different ones, but it's worth it in the end.

I wish you the best and hope to see you in chat sometime.
