Hi

A couple months ago, I was put on the antidepressant ''Prozac''. I've never actually taken the antidepressant because my mom is really against me taking it. So, I was just wondering if any one has ever taken Prozac? If so, what's it like being on it. What side affects did you experience? And any other experiences that you had/have while taking Prozac?

Thanks(:

Hi i have been on prozac for a few months and it has helped tremendously. As for side effects I didnt experience any but that tends to be my norm....i tend not to be sensitive to drugs.

I've also taken prozac for years with no side effects. It is supposed to be one of the safest anti-depressants and has been around long enough that any long-term effects would have been known by now.

Hello, I was on prozac a few years back. No side effects, really, except that it made me ridiculously manic (delusions, hallucinations, paranoia...basically the works). So I had to come off it. That being said, I have Bipolar 1 Disorder and so it's not that big of a shock. Side effects-wise, it was one of the best anti-depressants I've ever tried.

That was my first anti-depressant ever....oh the memories, lol.

I was 17 at the time and it made me very violent, I didn't do anything violent but I felt like I wante to.

It was my first anti-depressant at age 14. It seemed to help, for awhile. I didn't have any weird side effects and it made me less depressed. I stopped trying to commit suicide, at least.

Eventually it did for me like melissa.recovering and I started hallucinating (on a much higher dose, after several years.) It should have been the first clue for my docs to realize that I'm bipolar, but it took another 15 years for that to happen.

I ended up switching to Effexor and then Zoloft before finding that Wellbutrin seemed to help more for me than the others had. At that point I stopped SI entirely, which was a big win.

For severe depression and multiple diagnosis' it does little to nothing! I have been on 13 failed medication. Everyones reaction is different. For me, it did nothing. Alot of young adults and adults take it to ultimately get a self confidence boost. I would consider it a baby/starter antideppressant

I was on Prozac many years ago. The main side effect was severe weight gain. I more than doubled my weight within 3 months. I literally had to buy new jeans every two weeks, I'm not exaggerating. My pdoc watched me balloon while still being depressed, and did nothing, although my husband tried talking to him about it. My then pdoc just ignored it, and I was too depressed to care.

I wish I could go back in time and change pdocs, and meds, immediately. It would have saved me a lot of misery.

Prozac was the first anto-depressant I took as well. I took it for 10 years with no problems. At the end of the 10th year it quit working so I went on effexor XR which I currently am on. I have been on effexor for 11 years and its still working well for me.

I had no problems really with prozac and it was the very first time I ever felt normal. I probably had depression since a teen but back then there were not drugs like today. I have no problems with prozac and found it helped me so much!!!
