I was given the most horrible, wrong, label, by a medical professional. I went to see this "general practitioner" because I was depressed and anxious .... I went for help, not to be labelled and treated like a piece of filth. Yes I'm angry. He was a freakin piece of ****.

In my humble opinion and experience, help for people with depression in the UK is often extremely inadequate!!!

I agree with you. I live in the UK too. Another thing, it depends on the doctor but most doctors just give me drugs and not actually deal with the problem by transferring me to a therapist or helping me. I'm sorry about what you are experiencing.
Thanks for this!

Trust me, it's extremely inadequate in the U.S. too. Around here the docs with the best reputations only accept the best health insurance plans (hooray for privatized health care and the lovely hierarchy of care it creates!).

I can only empathize. Yes, trying to get treatment for depression (or any MI for that matter) sucks. It sucks giant icy snowballs.

I'm sorry for this experience, Fuzzybear.

Was it a simple, non-diagnostic label, or was it something recorded that bears medical and even legal weight? -- Please don't relive the experience to answer these questions; I am concerned this GP's words might follow you in records. If that's the case, I hope you can challenge the label.

Wishing you victory against boorish insensitivity...
