If I was newly diagnosed, it would be problematic. But at it is, I am an old hand at this. I am educated enough in my own illness and have a good understanding of my needs.

I saw a nurse practitioner for the first time yesterday, so I kinda of get where you are going with this. Not entirely the same. She inititally placed me on a low theraputic dosage and I respectfully told her that dose would not do (I am on a mission to get better!). She upted the dosage some. If it is not enough, the therapist will communciate this to her and the dosage will be increased.

This is the only care I am able to receive. I'll take it!

If unlike myself, you are not an old hand at this, might I recommend you take someone whose sound judgment you trust with you when you visit the NP. Personally, when I am really in a bad way, my level of functioning is dulled and a good advocate would be an asset.

On the plus side, I got a hug.

I had a wonderful NP when I first started seeking help. Willing to listen and even put up with my sarcastic type of humor. Your personal experience may be different . If you are not comfortable with your current NP, make sure you bring this up and hopefully you may be able to work something out. Good luck.

If I was able to REALLY talk to her, I'd be ok with it. But if she was some stodgy, uncommunicative old bat, I wouldn't like it at all ! If you're having trouble with her, tell the front desk that you aren't "comfortable' with her, and you'd prefer to see the doctor. And tell them why -- i.e. you can't talk to her, she's mean, etc. They should let you see the doc then. If they DON'T, then I'd ask for my file, and tell them I'm going to someone else! THAT ought to change things in a hurry! You have to be your own advocate. Take someone with you if you don't feel comfortable doing this.

I'm so GLAD you're seeing someone, my friend. I've been fretting about you. You've been in my prayers. Message me if you want to talk. ok? Hugs, Lee
