I'm SO tired of hearing that. After a month of Zoloft at 100mg doing absolutely nothing, she wants me to increase it rapidly: 150 for a week, then to 200. "See how that works ".

We started this med change at the beginning of September, and I told her I've got a family function in the middle of April, and would REALLY like to not be in tears. I mean, I can only take so much Ativan and still function.

Thanx for listening folks.

I feel like a rat in a lab, when doctors talk about 'seeing how THIS works" when we try some random ****...

Actually, I was in Zoloft 15 years ago, burned out after 5. She's trying things that worked in the past. But, I'm starting to think if I burned out once............
Thanks for this!

We are having the same problems with my son's meds. He was on zoloft for two months with increases twice. We were practically yelling that it wasn't working, so they switched him to lexapro, the same family of drugs. We are now going through the same thing with this drug being increased. He has a diagnosis of bipolar with the the clinical psychologist, but the pdoc doesn't like to label children (he's 11). Finally, the last pdoc said they would probably have to switch him to a mood stabilizer next, hello??? that is what I have been asking for!
Btw, I am bipolar and so is my father, maybe a history here?

Good luck, and go in ready with questions!

sookie3 - It is so tough to find the best med and best dose. I hope you are also getting some counseling to help you. There just are no promises - only things to try!

Can you try to focus on the family function coming up and view it as a positive time that you will enjoy attending? And then repeat that thought to yourself every day?

Not really sure meds work at all. I have been on them for 11 years. Changing all the time. I am lost.

Trying new meds and increasing dosages can indeed be a frustrating thing. But it's also often necessary. I am currently on 200mg of Zoloft and it did not start working well until it reached that dose. I hope you will hang in there, because who knows? Maybe you'll find that 150, or 200mg, is helpful for you.
Thanks for this!

I like the idea of focusing on the positive aspects off the event in April, Leo. Seems all I can think about Re the trip is the cost of airfare, losing weight before I go, etc.

She's listening to me, but I don't call her between appts like she asks. Don't want to bother her.....

It is a scary thing to try new meds or increase doses. What new side effects will I have, will it work, will I feel worse..... sigh.

Jesus christ, its like patients are petri dishes.

150mgs of zoloft made me eye twitch with the adderall haha.
Neurontin was meant to help the tics these meds caused.

Man, I'll tell you, I loved acupuncture. Too bad the needles can't stay in my back all day, though. Might be more effective. Haha.

Good luck <3
