She just had a panick attack at work and opened up to me. She has been bottling up her emotions and issues for yeeeeeears and is now unhappy about it.

Shes nervous about making the jump to see a therapist even after i told her i see one all the time.

Any advice on what i can say to her?

maybe you can give her online resources so she can research that it IS common to to go with talk to someone. Also, when I was an RA in college, we would often to offer the student to the meeting. It sometimes helps to have someone there to support them through the big step of getting there. You don't have to stay or sit in the first meeting, but maybe support her in the waiting room?

It's great you are there for her. SOmetimes it takes a little time for people to sit with the idea of seeing a professional. Good luck!

I think to give you advice, I'd need to know more about your friend and your relationship for her, but help her to know you are there for her and want to help her, and maybe in time she will become more willing to get help. In the meantime, I have to say thanks for being there for her and trying to help her. I have depression and I know what it feels like having a good friend who just isn't there for you like she should be, and it really hurts. So it's great that you are helping her, hopefully in time she'll come around.

Wonderful! Providing practical assistance to a person in distress, who may not be able to act on their own, is one of the best things one can do.

Thank you!
