Depression! He lashes out at me can't tell me he loves me and says he doesn't care about my feelings whatsoever! He's really a good guy but the depression has gotten the worst of him and he is no longer the person I fell in love With! He is so convinced he is dying but Refuses to see a doctor at all! Anyone else have a similar situation that can give me advice? |

i dont know much about this. but i can somewhat relate my hasband has bi plolar so he lashes out alot at me. if he dosent want to have a docters help then theres nothing you can do on the feild.. they have to want help in order to get it. the only thing that i can think of that you can do it just be there for him try to get him to talk to you try to figure out the root of it. why is he acting like this and what is it that makes him act like this towards you. im depressed and i take it out after holding it so long. some times i just need someone who will just listen and care. he may not want help bc deep down he does love you but mabey he has gotten to the point to where he is thinking too much and is afraid you will leave him. or mabey there is something more. i dont know if this will help but its a start...

Hello & Welcome, Justwanttobehappy! Without getting him to a doctor it is not possible to determine just what is going on with him. It certainly could be depression by itself, but, as Visalissa suggests, he could be suffering from another illness with the mood disorder on top of it.
You yourself can call a crisis line if your husband won't talk to anyone. PsychCentral Help Me PsychCentral's Crisis links page Befrienders Worldwide - World-Wide Crisis Hotlines

I am a married man with depression, and I can relate to his end. When I am in my bad spaces, I tend to be pretty hard on my wife. I can even see that I'm doing it, but it's hard not to. I have learned and accepted that I needed (and need) help. I am getting treatment now and while life is not all roses things are much better.
I agree with others in that if he doesn't want help and won't go see a doctor there isn't much you can do. He needs to want to get help. I do have one question if you are willing to answer. What does he believe he is dying from? I have anxiety issues also and have often been unrealistically convinced that I have some disease that I am dying from. Not sure if it's like that, but thought I'd ask. Hope you are able to find some support on here! ![]() |
