Wishing everyone a good 4th of July....what are you doing today?

Hello to anyone reading this. I just wanted to wish everyone a good day, or the best day possible....whether you're paying attention to the fact that it's the 4th of July or not....personally I'm kind of "in-between" on this. As I don't have any family except a very elderly aunt who does not live near me, and no friends that I do things with, I find for the past few years it helps me to get through these days if I do any shopping, etc. done before the "big day", so that I can just kind of live in my own world (well, along with my 4 kitties)....in the house....and not have to be exposed to all the parades and celebrations out in the world. I know for some it seems to help to "get out there", but for me it most probably just leaves me feeling more lonely, and very likely breaking into tears in a crowd....not so good. So, today I'm going to watch some of the Wimbledon matches that I recorded last night, hang with the Furry Kids, then later cook a great dinner and pretty much for sure eat too much.....

Yesterday was okay; today, however, the tears are flowing. I'm going to try and get a bit better by going to visit my mother-in-law. She's in a nursing home, ill with Parkinson's disease. That will take the focus off of me for a minute or two. But then, it is back home then to the office tomorrow where I hate to be. Just thinking about it leads me on the road to the thoughts of regret, worry and despair.

But for now, visiting "mom", and getting an ice cream. Happy 4th.

Hi regretful....I'm really sorry you're feeling so bad, and that the tears are flowing. I'm very grateful for the respite I'm experiencing right now, but of course the reality that things can slip quickly is always there....I guess that's why it's so important to take it moment by moment (preaching to myself on this), but what else is there to do?? Oh to have a magic wand. Otherwise, so sorry that your Mother-in-Law is suffering from Parkinson's, but it's so nice that you'll be visiting with her today. I hope it brings you some comfort. Best wishes to you both.....

I know what you mean about getting out, it's good if you can handle it but I would rather pass on a holiday. I'm the only one that feels that way though so we're doing the family gathering thing. they are nice people but gatherings last forever and I'm tired just thinking about it. last night we made frozen lemonade pies and I will be making a macaroni salad in a little while. I do like to cook and holiday food is kinda soothing.

I can understand how u feel being alone and how you feel in public. I've been with my feince for 10 years and i do just about everything by myself, with the kids. I've been dreaming of the day we can be like a normal family, but with his work schedule it doesnt happen. I am often lonely, and its hard being out in public when i look around and see everyone.
But i hope you have a good meal, eat lots for me :-) and hopefully when your relaxing your kitties can give ya some love, i know mine do
