I am coming out of a depressive episode and as you know, it was not fun... I was wondering what coping strategies everyone uses to help them...
These are a few that sometimes work for me:
-Journaling
-Crying until I feel better
-Taking a hot bath
-Calling someone if I am up to it

Being outdoors helps me. Takes a while because it's usually a cumulative affect. Hope your strategies work

I like to spend time alone with the family pets. They love me no matter what and I feel safe talking to them and loving them back. I really need to be alone for a bit, though, because a loud voice or small criticism will send me back down.
Thanks for this!

Absolutely being outside helps - looking at all God's wonders, the sky, trees, birds, squirrels, etc. They're all amazing. And while out there, be sure to breath deeply - that helps.

if I can't go outside, I get online and either come here, or look for beautiful pictures from around the world that I can save to the computer so when the screen saver comes on, you have a beautiful show of pretty pictures.

Just a couple of suggestions. Hugs, Lee

Do you have any hobbies? Like reading, watching TV, etc?
Also, being around people helps me - even if I feel like isolating, I tend to feel better when I'm with others. Everyone's different though.

Coming out of an episode is the time to start reworking you happiness muscle. If it isn't drugs, alcohol, or violence, anything that makes you happy is what you should be doing now. Then start working on yourself in either a physical or mental way. Basically I think any time we are coming out of or are out of an episode, work that happiness so it is stronger to resist or endure the next one IF it comes at all.

But for me personally its video games, gym, enjoying my family interactions instead of them being about "are you okay?", and comedy- internet comedy, movies, my own etc.
