Hi my friend ~ Why are you so afraid of meds? Are you afraid that you'll take them ALL at some time? Are you afraid of the side effects? They really aren't that bad, and sometimes you just don't have ANY. I haven't had any side effects on ANY of the antidepressants i've been on. How about THAT?!!! Just because people say that there ARE side effects doesn't mean that there ALWAYS are.

Please -- give them a try. You WILL feel better, I promise you. The doc may have to adjust he dosage a time or two, but once he gets the dosage right, which will probably be the first time you WILL feel better as soon as the drug gets thoroughly in your blood stream and thru out your body, It may take a few days to up to 4-5 weeks to begin working. It depends on the drug itself.

Give them a try ok? You will NOT regret it. It's the only relief we have. Don't suffer any more. You dont' deserve to sufer. God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee

Perhaps you need to deal with your fears and try meds, or at least discuss this option with your doctor, do some reading, etc. Depression is a very challenging thing to do battle with, and to not be open to anything that might help really makes no sense, unless you're willing to just deal with whatever comes. While meds don't work for everyone, they do help many people. Best of luck......

Hey philly, meds aren't the enemy, the illness is. There is every reason
Why your afraid to take them, its the illness talking you out of it.
I say, fight back and start the meds. You can always go off of
Them if they don't help, right?

P.s. you sound just like me, all I do is sleep 24/7. With bathroom breaks inbetween of course.

It is an illness you are fighting, like the last poster said. And like any illness you have to fight it on all fronts. The problem with depression is it takes away your will often and leaves you feeling defeated. Without meds I would likely not be well at all. I have a chemical imbalance and need the medicine to help me feel okay. I hope you will try the meds, the worst that can happen is they won't work. But they do decrease symptoms for most people with depression.

Thank you everyone for your comments..I'm new here and this thing is hard to follow, I clicked on someone's post to read it and my post with replies came up I'm happy to read them though......I'm afraid of side affects and I think it apart of my post tramic stress disorder, when I was little my mother gave my bother a pain pill he was about 9 years old..well he broke out in the giant red lumps all over his body and I remember screaming and crying I was terrified. Later as an adult I never knew why I was terrified of medicine until my therapist at the time help me to remember and said that was why...now I can't seem to make myself take it I have panic attacks when I try...I leave the pills out so I can see them and I pick one up put it to my mouth and I panic. I don't know what to do. Im so discussed with myself.

Thank you for your reply I will continue to try, I've even been to a intensive day therapy group where I went to Mon thru Fri...they tried to help me..I managed to take half of a half pill for a week when it was time to increase...I freaked out and stopped the Med ...and I thought I was gonna pass out one of those days on the Med I blamed it on the Med but at that low dose it probally was my anxiety ...

That is sure difficult. Anxiety and panic is so hard, and often the pills can help but you panic about taking them... It's like a vicious cycle. I have had many experiences in life where I just couldn't do what it was I feared. It sometimes took a long time, but eventually I manage to do it most of the time now. The self hatred that comes with that fear is horrible, I understand what you are talking about. I still believe you can do this, if it is what you want to do. Don't give up!
