Hi everyone
I am Sam. I am quite shy. I have known I have had depression for many years but have mostly kept it to myself. I am normally too frightened to talk about it or admit to it so this is another big step for me coming on to this forum.
Recently I was encouraged by a friend I had confided in to go to a depression workshop ran by a guy who has a good track record of getting people out of depression. It is helping me so far.
I am finding that talking about it is helping.

Hi Sam
I just started on this site 5 or 6 days ago and I've become a real jabber jaws. I'm also shy, embarrassed, reluctant to talk. It does feel good to talk and be heard. Hopefully I'll see more of your posts. Look out for me b/c some days I really need someone to hear me. By the way, if you don't have a therapist you might want to consider it. To be able to pour your heart out for 45 minutes is so helpful.
Be well.
Thanks for this!

Welcome to PC. I don't have any depression workshops in my small town. Is there any chance you could share what thoughts/ideas etc you're finding beneficial? I need all the help I can get!

Hey Sam,

I'm also new to the forum, just a few days now and it has been great getting to share my stories and feelings with so many supportive people who have gone through so many of the same things. I'd also love to hear more about what you're learning at the workshop!

Be well, I hope to hear from you some more!

RJ

I went through a very difficult time, I still am. But just wanted to say, you all are so right. It helps to talk, with people who understand, care and support you.
Thanks for this!

Thanks everyone. Its quite hard to explain how its helping me. The workshops look at all sorts of things about why you feel the way that you feel and help you to try and move forward. Talking to other people who are in the same situation is also helping. So is a book that Steven, the leader of the workshops, has written. its called Live a motivated life. I got a copy at one of the workshops and just cant put it down. Its full of motivational stories and also techniques to help you get motivated, stay motivated and motivate others. I have spoken with some people who have finished it and they keep reading it, it helps them a lot. I think you can also get it at his website professionalmotivation.co.uk

Hi Kiwi, it really does help to talk, and especially if you are shy like a lot of us are, it is so important to do it. after a while it gets to be a habit to keep things inside, and that does not help
