WHat does your mom think? Why wouldn't you want to take something that could help you feel better? You went to a psychiatrist for medication, right? I think you can read several threads in the Drug Forum and get more info too. TC

I'm struggling with same question except that my T is trying to get me to talk to a psychiatrist. I haven't agreed to it yet.
I hope you talk this out with a family member or trusted friend. But, if you're like me, you can't seem to reach the words to even talk to someone about the idea. I hope you are not like me in this area. This website has a drugs section that is interesting to read. |

I have been on all kinds of antidepressants. Everyone responds differently to the same meds for example I can have a good experience with paxil and welbutrin where as others had problems with them. I had problems with prozac and lots of others but yet people I know that are on the ones that I had a problem with are doing great on them.
The trick to finding the right medication and dosage is how the follow up care is done. A prescribing professional can't get it right if the clients don't tell them what is going on. So when I am on medication I keep a medication log - Date and time I take the medication and any symptoms and side effects that I experience on the medication. Then I take my medication log with me to my family physician and he adjusts the medication. The first month - two months on the medication I see my physician weekly for medication checks and then if all goes well my med checks change to every 6 months during the time I am on that medication. |

A T generally can't prescibe medications. Usually they recommend a psychiatrist because the MD knows the psychotropic medications better than anyone... you don't really have to talk to the psychiatrist about problems, only the medication.

I'm on a medication for depression/social anxiety I also take something for sleep and for my nitemares it all depends on that individual. also whenever I'm getting switched to a new med I look it up online so I know somthing about what I'm taking.
Welcome to P.C.
