What medication has worked for depression?

There are dozens of meds that can help depression, depending on the type of depression and it's cause. I suggest you go to the "Drugs" page, the link is above and have a look. There are far too many to be able to answer your question in a forum such as this.
Good luck, DJ

For me, paxil, celexa and prozac have worked at different times. And all have stopped working for me as well. Which is why I have had to switch among them. Right now my paxil isn't working so well, but I am loathe to switch to one of the other two again because I am afraid it might not work this time or I'll feel worse before I feel better. So I went up to 30 mg paxil-previously took 20-and it seems to have helped except I am feeling more anxious--which I don't like. I don't see it as much of an improvement to feel less depressed but more anxious.
That's my 2 cents for what it's worth.

>>>What medication has worked for depression?>>>
The one that works for YOU! There is no one best medicine, what works for one might not work for another. There are many and they differ in make up, Seratonin, Dopamine, Norepinephrin, mixtures of them, it depends on what your brain needs. The most important thing is that you have a proper evaluation and correct diagnosis, have a psychiatrist prescribe your meds.and monitor you closely while you are on them. Read about those medications so you will be fully educated about them, side effects, contraindiations, etc. |

Wellbutrin has a good rep if you dont have seizure related illnesess in your family.
It doesn't have the negative sexual side effects of many other medications, although it might be a little less effective, i think being able to get it on with the old lady might make up for that - all in good will, of course. :P |

I've tried Efexor and Luvox. In my case the Luvox hasn't helped. I was on Efexor first then wanted a change and tried Luvox. It just made me more anxious, depressed and VERY restless. Nothing I did could help except drink herbal tea.
Now i'm about to go back on the efexor as I've realised how much it really worked now that i'm off it!! It does have some bad side effects but for me the good outweighs it |
