Hi. I've been feeling really overwhelmed lately with school, and family problems. My parents and brother have been constantly making fun of me, and blaming me for things that aren't even my fault. They are mad at me for not siding with them in a family fight that took place on Thanksgiving day. This has made my life since then very hard, with them constantly saying i need to learn how to be a human. I should probably mention that i am completely blind and have been that way since birth. I don't take anything about my blindness offensively, i just accept it as being part of life. However, now, they're using it against me, saying that they wish i was never born, and saying i'm worthless just because i didn't side with them and my blindness. I really don't know what to do anymore.

Hi and welcome FrozenFire97! I'm so sorry for what you have been going through. That's horrible for you to hear words like that from your family. Can you find help with a therapist? I wish I knew what to say to make you feel better. You are very strong to be able to cope with blindness and everything your family is going through. This is a very good site and lots of people to help, they are better able to give you some advice. Just wanted you to know that I believe you can get the help you need to get through this.

Hi FrozenFire, This sounds like a really bad position for you to be in right now. Your getting hit with school and family problems simultaneously. Since you say this is going on "lately" I'm figuring that it has not been this way all your life with the teasing and blaming games. For a brother to say that "he wishes you were never born" is not so unusual. Don't get me wrong it's a cruel thing to say but its not unusual. When someone is mad at you, they go for what is going to hurt you the most. Often when a brother says something like that, he really doesn't mean it. It is just said in the heat of the moment. Obviously, your brother has issues and does not know how to deal with them so he is lashing out at you. I think you should just try to ignore him and go about your business. Don't let him know he's getting to you. He'll get tired of himself eventually and will likely be needing you for something down the road, in which case his attitude will noticeably change. If your parents are blaming you for things you haven't done, all you can do is stand up for yourself and hope they come to their senses. Parents don't always know how to handle every situation and they do make mistakes. It hurts, but just know that you did what you could to rectify the situation. Sometimes it takes a while for people to get over themselves and sometimes it takes longer. Hang in there knowing you are entitled to your opinion and they are entitled to theirs. Meanwhile, just concentrate on your studies and call a friend or two to get your mind off of the family stuff. Do something for YOU to lighten your load. ((((HUGS)))))

They are no one to tell you if you are worthful or not. Everybody is created for some purpose and everybody can make a difference if he wants to. Just don't pay attention on what they say. Just don't let them affect your self-esteem. You are important and only if you realize it, you are going to make much out of it. Keep updating us and stay well

Hi Frozen fire! I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time right now. I would like to know how old you are in order to try to help you better. I am asking because you mention school so I don't know if you are an adult, a teenager or a kid. There are different ways to deal with problems depending on your age. However, somethings remain constant and I am appalled that your parents are saying such horrible things to you. Brothers will say hurtful things like that when they are angry and live to regret it later so that isn't as big a surprise but it is still a horrible thing for a brother to say. You might want to check out the relationships forum and see if anyone there has suggestions as to how to make things better for you. I also think that your family needs to seek some sort of counseling. It sounds like they are the ones who really need it. I hope things get better for you soon. Feel free to PM me if you want to.
