It seems as though every time I'm going through a depressive "phase" I suddenly want to start changing things about my appearance. A lot of the time, I'll do something drastic without giving it a lot of thought (like getting a big tattoo) and then I'm mad at myself later. I'll want to cut or dye my hair, try new make-up/hair products, buy new clothes...pierce something, you get it. And the thing is, it never makes me feel any better afterwards, yet I continue to do it. What is it they say about the definition of insanity..."doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? lol

Does anyone else do anything similar to this? What do you think the reason behind it is?

I thought about that, but I don't think that's it. It has more to do with how I feel about myself. Funny thing is, I'm normally pretty confident and fairly secure.

How do you feel when you change? The immediate feeling not the later regrets. Is it good?

Sometimes I feel better for a bit. Usually though, it doesn't "come out the way I wanted it to" and I feel worse.

I never really gave it a bunch of thought until tonight when I realized what I was doing. I'll have to try running it past my T.

Thank you

Usually I'm pretty confident, I just go through these phases. Thanks for the input though. Much appreciated.
