My hope for this thread is that even though we suffer and live with depression, perhaps we can help each other get through the day with positive thoughts and ideas. And if your positive thought worked for you during the day - please come back and let us know so we can celebrate!
Thanks for this!

Today I watched the Royal Wedding and enjoyed it immensely. It was fun to see a lovely couple sharing their big day, enjoying each other and impressed with the warmth and love shown them by the British, Welsh, Scottish, and other people attending the affair to thronging along the motocade/carriage routes.

To make sure I have a good day, I make myself do one positive thing. Either a housekeeping chore, some paperwork, or some task that's been on my "to do" list forever. But only one. I don't push myself beyond my coping level which is low right now from depression.

Thanks for starting a POSITIVE thread! So many times this list is such a downer--I can only read so many posts and I'm exhausted. Try to help others though--it makes me feel better.
Thanks for this!

As for positive thoughts what has always stuck with me is "This too shall pass". I know that whatever happens everything will change. Everything changes, that's just the nature of the world. So having said that with my depression when it's bad I just tell myself it's only a matter of time before it gets better.

Love and hugs,
tara

Online and Tara - thanks for joining in and sharing here.

I also get exhausted when I read too many downer posts. So today, I'm going to stay away from those posts as a way to take care of myself.

I have a 5 item to do list for today - but I will take the advice about doing just one positive thing today and not get hung up and stress myself out if I don't finish the list. After all, there is always tomorrow.

"This too shall pass." Yes, yes, yes! I think I told myself that a hundred times this past week at work! Along with taking a deep breath, it helped keep my stress headaches at bay.

Keep smiling and eventually you will actually be smiling.

Good for you, Caretaker Leo! I baked a strawberry/rhubarb pie with a lattice crust for two ladies who came over to get our bridge games in before the league ends next week. It was perfect an they loved it! Hubby helped by cleaning cat litter boxes, vacuuming, and helping put out snacks and cars. We won both games, too, despite having not overly great cards. Then hubby took me out to dinner. So a very nice day today for me, too.

Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one.

Online - yum! And your hub sounds like mine - total sweethearts pitching in to help.

Today I finished 3 items on my weekend to-do list. Hooray! The best one is writing up a new job description for myself because my manager is trying to get me promoted.

Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

That's my positive thought for today. Some days it just seems very hard to do anything. But then I remember someone always has it worse!

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today I will find good moments and cope with whatever comes my way.

Played with my cute kittens today--they are so adorable! We took pictures and emailed them to the people who are getting some of the kittens. They are really happy, so that makes me happy. Kittens are a good thing.

I am finding for myself that many threads in this forum are creating negative triggers for my own mental health. I can't change how PC works, but I sure wish more would join in and try to post positive thoughts here. One kind word from another can really make a difference in whether I move closer to or further away from the black hole of depression. From what I've seen here so far, those kind words make a difference for many others, too.

and to all who are working towards healing.

Saw a beautiful rainbow yesterday--it was raining in the mountains and the sun was shining where we were. It was so broad and beautiful and shone for a long time.

Hoping there is a rainbow in everyone's future!

Returned from vacation yesterday. Have done nothing but hold cats since. Have a purring kitten on my shoulder. She missed me terribly. As did the others. What sweethearts!

Happy Saturday! Don't have to dress up, do my hair or put on make-up today. Just get to be my raw, real self. What could be better than that?
