I always found it annoying that you have to be bleeding out or vomiting up your lungs to get any help for anything, if they can't see it than it isn't a problem. I guess what I'm trying to say is that when I'm depressed so much sovthat I just feel like it has to end, at no point in time can I ask for help, everytime I have before, I was always sent home for "lying" after about twenty-four hours. Sometimes I think that I have to be on the verge of death to get any help, or no one takes me seriously. I don't know what I'm saying, I jusr find it so stupid that professionals can be so ****ing ignorant. I don't know, maybe I'm just being whiney.

Youre not being whiny. That is how you felt when you wrote it.

Where are you going for help? Is there an alternative place to go?

AllImsaying has a good point about your not whining. I'm sorry the Dr.s are making you feel that way.

If you have not already, see if you can find a therapist that is not in a hospital. The ER staff unfortunately tend to just send people home or tell them they are drug seekers. Once you have a therapist, if you do need to go into an inpatient situation, it will be a Dr. who admitted you and will be able to control how long your stay is.

I have chronic migraines that only respond to narcotics, and before I found a pain management clinic, every time I went into the ER, I was pegged as a drug seeker. They would try everything under the sun, all of which had been tried before with no relief. During one of those visits, they put something in IV that nearly cost me my hand. You can bet the staff came running when my hand turned purple! I'm sure there are some compassionate Dr.s working in the ER, but you would be better with a specialist.

Medicine has become very specialized, which in some ways is good, but it also means that there are many Dr.s who are not up on mental illness. Unfortunately, they hold the power. A good Dr. is irreplaceable, but a bad one can really get under your skin.

Look in your telephone directory or the online website for your town and find telephone numbers for the various helplines available. You need to talk to someone who is familiar with mental health issues.
You deserve help. You are trying to take responsibility for your own improvement which is very courageous. Keep looking. Also there is so much information and hotline numbers listed on this site. Some of these are on the national level. You should be able to get help there at least.
Good luck.
