i am a person who used to get like flu/fever once or twice a year... yes that little.
i started having depression symptoms back in 2010.. but did not go to the doc. still my fever/flu was around the same.. i don't get sick easily. i only started seeing the pdoc last year and only recently did i agree to be put on medications. and i realise.. for the past 3 months, for each month i will have fever/flu that last for 2 weeks. meaning for april, i had flu. may, i had fever. now june, i'm having both fever AND flu. which comes across as odd and frustrating to me.. for now i can't bring it up to my pdoc coz i'm waiting for the new one to settle in. anyway my question is: do you think it's the depression (because they say depression lowers immunity or somewhere along that line, but taking into account i was depressed in 2010 and was not doing anything about it) or is it the medication?

People react to drugs differently. Drug reactions don't always happen the first time you take them. Sometimes it takes the body a while to recognize it, and in some cases decides that it is an enemy. When I was younger, I had penicillin for a couple of infections, not close together, and never had a problem until one day when it was perscribed again, I had a reaction.
If you are noticing a pattern, then its something you should call your Dr. about. Even if you are in the process of changing Dr.s. Don't just stop cold turkey, (some drugs cause withdrawl), but call. The Dr. may want to take you off that medication and or put you on another. Its not worth taking a chance. Sam2 |

Hello, Herethennow!
Either, both, or something(s) totally unrelated. Yes, do discuss this with your doctor. It is possible the flu and fever are depression- or medication-related, and it is also possible another condition is hiding behind what currently has the doctor's attention.

I think it's related, also, to lowered immune system. I'd try to build that. The medications
certainly take their share of nutrients in being metabolized, so you need to refurbish your vitamin loads. Vitamin C is one that the human cannot manufacture. We need to supplement that daily, and it's one of the vitamins that is a strong helper in building the immune system. Take care of yourself and until you have built your immune system, be careful about being in places where there are large groups of people. Read some on the internet about vitamins and their value in building the immune system. |
