I am so ANGRY right now, disgusted, angry. I have no medication left. Her reasoning, in an email, was "we need to look into new treatments." Fine, that's fine. But YOU DON'T JUST CUT SOMEONE OFF MENTAL ILLNESS MEDICATION COLD TURKEY.

Oh god I know I am going to fall right back into a depressive episode. I don't see her until next week. This leaves me in 48 hours. I'm so screwed. God. gnjkdfsg I'm scared

Did your doctor/therapist give you any instructions about tapering off Zoloft?

I have none left, my refill was meant to happen this morning and the pharmacists told me he wasn't allowed, which was odd, I had one more refill (I get two) before my next T appointment. I emailed her and she explained she wants to try a new medication (DESPITE THE FACT THAT ZOLOFT WORKS FOR ME) and that we will talk about it when I see her next. Which is Tuesday of next week. It doesn't seem far away, but with the meds out of my system that fast, it's going to be a struggle.

Can you go to a doctor? That is ridiculous cutting you off and not tapering down. I tapered myself off Zoloft several years ago and it bothered me some. I don't understand her thinking at all if the meds worked.
Thanks for this!

This is poor practice, and I would find a new prescriber asap----if you have a regular health care provider, it would be worth it to call that person and discuss the situation. It is not okay physically or emotionally to cause this distress by deciding a new med is needed. This is not her decision to make alone anyway. You have a say in this. I am So Sorry this is happening to you ----
I would find a new t. too---I just wouldn't be able to trust someone who would do that to me. My doc. (and anyone in that practice) will, and has, gone out of their way for me when I mess up and run out of my necessary med (that is an as-needed so, I think I'm ok, run out at times and....Wham)---even when it is my own fault. They know how important this is----((maybe my doc having a bipolar family member & knowing me so long helps, but i think they are just very good at what they do))

Thank you everyone.
I already feel myself slipping into SH urges etc. I don't want to leave my bed.

I am going to call my general doctor and see if he can get an emergency refill tonight. This is how I ended up in the hospital so many times in the past. And apparently, my appointment with this moron of a therapist is on August 8th
13 days.
God.

Oh goodness! Get a new T. There are withdrawal symptoms when cutting off zoloft cold-turkey, your T should, if nothing else, KNOW THAT. That's just incredibly poor practice - and to cut you off without even DISCUSSING it with you? That's wrong. Your treatment plan is something that YOU have say in... and if you're happy with the zoloft and feel it's effective, then your T should support that because that's what everyone wants with their medication!!

I hope your GP helps you out.

I believe you have to be off some meds for a while before you can take some of the newer ones. And you might be on a low enough dose that you don't need to taper. But it SHOULD have been discussed with you or explained to you so you didn't have this shock and anxiety. Some of the newer ones start to work almost immediately, so you might not be in much danger of sliding south before your new meds kick in.

Take some time for yourself, do some things which are relaxing or please you while you are waiting for a resolution to this.

I have to disagree with this, simply because a doctor told me to quit a med cold turkey because I was on the lowest dose and supposedly didn't need to taper. I went through pretty bad withdrawal...maybe most people wouldn't experience that, but I think no matter the dosage, all drugs like that should be tapered. Drugs effect different people differently.

I also agree with trying to get an emergency prescription and changing doctors. Cancel your appointment the therapist and find a new one. Don't go to any doctor/therapist etc. who is intentionally putting you in physical/emotional danger.

I can relate to what you're going through...I just hope it turns out better for you.
