I've heard that writing down your feelings helps when you're feeling down, or in my case, depressed. I guess if anyone is reading this, I should explain. I'm Izzy. 12 years old, going on 13. I've been suspecting that I'm depressed for about six months, but the feeling has been getting stronger in the last month to two months. It sucks. I want to get help. I want to tell my mom. I'm scared.
From now on, I'm going to write down my feelings, and how my day went, and what's happening in my life. I guess I'll start off with my mom. I love her. Sometimes, we can argue, or she'll yell at me, though. I don't want us to argue, but sometimes I can really be the cause of the argument or make her yell at me simply because I was being annoying, or stupid, or mean.
I feel like I can never get anything right. I feel like I screw up even the most mundane and simple things. I feel out of place. I feel lost. I feel sad all the time. It's horrible. I want to open up and tell my mom. I'm scared. Why am I scared? I am still pondering that thought.

Hiizzyfg2000, I would try to open up to your Mom, maybe and see how that goes. And if there's someone else close to you who could handle it, maybe do that as well. PC website has a forum on depression and maybe you want to check that out! I wish you relief from your depression as soon as possible!
Thanks for this!

Hi, Izzy. Welcome to PC! Feel free to post anytime. Are you afraid that your mom will reject you or not take you seriously if you tell her how you've been feeling? Maybe write her a letter first and then follow up with a conversation. That would help take the pressure of what might seem like a confrontation. Age 12 is a really, really hard time. I remember all too well. Yes, adolescence is difficult, but that is no reason to dismiss problems you're having as inconsequential. Now is the time to deal with this.

Your mom may not know what to do or how to help her. So, be sure to let her know what you think would help you best. Do you want to have someone to talk to? Do you want feedback and advice? Would you rather talk to a professional therapist? Group therapy can be effective.

Good luck! We're here to give you encouragement to do what will help you. Keep posting!
Thanks for this!
