Hi all,im eager to get feedback off you and am glad to have found this great website also.I am depressed because I got a bad fingertip cut 3 months ago and have a scar there now.Its not the scar im worried about its the weird sensation that is there when I use it which is very annoying.I am getting so worried that I am starting to feel down and even starting to get very little sleep at night. It is getting to the stage where I am not enjoying life anymore and I am just going through the motions.I am trying to tell myself its only a silly little thing but I cant seem to stop worrying about it,i would never have thought I would get this depressed over such a thing.I went to my docter a couple of weeks ago to discuss my thoughts,he just recommended a couple of books and a therapist and said give your finger a year as its still healing internally.I was feeling good when I left for a while but then I started obsessing again.I have told my girlfriend, parents and brother and they are there for me but I hate to burden them.I keep thinking this is trivial to get in such a state about and stop being so negative but its hard,i guess I worry too much, thank you for reading my post.

That is an indication this is no "little thing". The injury may be minor (I'm not sure anything involving fingers can be considered truly minor considering all the nerves in that part of the body), but your reaction to the injury requires its own examination and care.

Make yourself at home here. I recommend you approach the problem from several different angles: depression, anxiety, obsessiveness, pain management, sleep hygiene, etc.

It sounds like you have health anxiety. I have that too. It does not take much for me to over react at some little thing that can happen. Other people laugh at me about it.

I think that health anxiety these days is on the increase because of so many disaster stories and medical advice you can pick up on the web.

Thanks rohag for making me feel welcome.I know it is no little thing.Will19 I think your right,I surfed the web a lot and was picking up lots of negative stuff, even my docter said you seem to overthink things and and are looking at the worst case scenario before you know how things will even pan out!I agreed with him.I suppose its the interim which is the hard part, who knows my finger may improve or im sure il get used to it in time like so many other people with ailments and injuries etc.Maybe I should be posting in the health section:-)
