I ruminate all the time, it's like I like it or something.. I ruminate by myself, I ruminate outloud to my friends, I ruminate on here.. all the time. How do I stop myself from doing it? I bought a book about it.. I'd read it if I could just stop ruminating. No seriously I'm gonna try.

poptart-

I am a ruminator as well. When something upsets me, I tell the story over & over...I am very detailed, which I know gets people po'd.

Is there a certain thing/situation, right know, which has you ruminating? I just keep on telling whomever will listen....

I do the same but I tend to try to make it funny bacause I know I'm doing it. Still, eventually, I recognize people are annoyed and then I ruminate on how humiliated I am that I can't stop ruminating.

Prozac stopped my ruminating. I say it stopped the voices in my head, but really it was probably the ruminating. It was getting loud. Have you tried meds?

My experience was also that when I got the right meds I stopped ruminating. Ruminating was such a torture. It made me miserable. I distracted my mind with TV, computer games and reading. It didn't stop the ruminating but it gave my mind a break so I could rest. I also got extremely tired from ruminating.
I hope you get the help you need.
