Don't know what I can say in the title:
Depression has caused me to: a) Gain Weight b) Lose touch with friends c) Fail romantically d) do terribly in school e) be unable to go outside f) be unable to leave bed g) be unable to concentrate in lectures and on assignments h) be unable to simply take care of myself i) be unable to secure employment I feel like this list can go on and on and on. I've been on anti-depressants for 13 months and I've been in and out of therapy and mental health systems and I'm not getting better. I've stagnated and I don't know what to do. |

Have you tried different medications, different therapists?

What sorts of things are you interested in? For instance, do you like model airplanes, or cats, or classical music, or comic books? I'm not trying to reduce your pain to a trivial level, it's just that sometimes it's good to have something to focus on other than yourself. It's also good to allow yourself time with something you enjoy, even if you feel at first like you don't deserve it, because it sends a message to your subconscious mind that you are a valuable person who has the right to be happy. Best wishes.

I've tried different therapists but as to medication I've only changed doses.
I try to focus on things I enjoy, but I need to get my act together and work towards progressing towards financial independence, since my family life is probably the main reason I'm so messed. |
