I've been unemployed for 3 months and living with my mom and step dad. I told her I would need 6 months to 1 year for my disability to kick in seeing as I'm unable to work so I can move out.
Today she tells me to go outside and help my step father paint the house, I tell her I don't feel well and she calls the police to kick me out of the house. well first she cuts the power off to my room. My step dad comes in the house and takes my side while my mother is screaming at me. I have no where to go, I can't hold a decent paying job, I can't support myself. I'm 22 years old and just got out the military 3 months ago after to serving right out of high school. she says i'm 22 and living with my parent's and it's a shame and my depression isn't real and that people who don't have food to eat, limbs, or homes are in worse condition than I am...I don't have a right to be depressed. I'm not disrespectful and I keep to myself and clean up after myself. I'm stressed out, I can't work and now shes saying I have to go to school or she'll call the police to kick me out. I can't handle this **** and my meds aren't doing anything. I think I'm going to drive off the bridge into the mississippi. Last edited by Wren_; Sep 24, 2013 at 05:46 PM. I shed no tears when my mother died. Your lucky your stepfather takes your side. Mine never even spoke to me or looked at me. I look forward to the day he dies. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi Jesusplay,
This is too hard. I am not sure what is going on with your mom. Mine had the inability to connect, she was always nervous and too negative. She was like that with all her kids. I love her now, but I am old. I know one day you will kind of understand her, one day you will perhaps get to know why she is in the way she is. But now you need somebody that can be more supportive for you. She just cannot do it. I would say (sorry if I am too risky or blunt) just stop thinking of her, refocus. She is not there for you, and maybe she will not be, at least for a while. I am sorry, I know you need my comfort, instead, I am giving some homework to do: look for somebody that can support you, be practical. I am not saying stop feeling bad because of your mom; I am just saying: try to look around and find somebody that can support you better. This is what I am doing right now and it is working. I wish you the best, and please, keep posting, we care about you and want to know how you are doing |

I try not to hate my mother, rather to hate what she did. I try hard, it's not easy. Therapy helps. I realize my mother was very ill, and did not receive any effective treatment. The drugs available then were horrible. Maybe she suffered worse than me.
