Got thyroid results back. I was hoping this was what has been causing this roller coaster year I have been having. But the test came back enlarged but functioning fine. So everything is just in my messed up head. I don't know how much more I can take. There are no external factors that would cause a normal person to be depressed in my life. I have a good family and job, on track to even retire early. That is what makes all this even the more frustrating.

I am struggling the same way. My depression came out if nowhere and nothing happened to trigger it. Hard to know what to fix to get rid of it.

Clinnical depression does not need external causes. It's just an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain. This maybe the cause for your depression it's the cause o mine.

Going back to your thyroid levels did they measure T3 and T4 individually? Sometimes a thyroid test just covers the basic TSH level. That doesn't cover everything. There are many women that are depressed with her thyroid test comes back low normal and regular doctor will not treated sometimes you might need a little bit of Synthroid it's really a call that An endocrinologist has to make or ur pd if they know that area. It's worth reading about.

I've also asked for a D vitamin test and a B 12 test mine were both low. That can cause problems of sluggishness for depression. It's just another base that you can get covered. Now my PD is looking into hormone levels. I'm not thrilled about it but it's just something else to rule out. I think you have to be your own health advocate.
I know I have severe depression, but my PD likes to cover all his bases. Yes sometimes it does come down to neurotransmitters or as I would say bum genes. Wish you best of luck!

Oh I'm sorry. I know how it feels to possibly find an answer that might explain everything only to find out its depression. I always try to check everything else first then say yeah, let's work w/ the meds. I hope you find something that works for you or a good combination of them.
