Or whatever it is that get's you through the night (you have to be a certain age to get that reference).
For me, it's a bath. I have some very self-indulgent bath goodies and on decent days, when I can actually be bothered to get out of bed, it's what I do. I am always amused by those people that have not ever had depression but think that they know. The ones that say "go for a walk" or "cheer up" or "how about a hobby?". As if. So what is it that you consider a semi-successful day? |

hmmm, good question. I think maybe walking the dogs would be the thing for me... but that takes A LOT of energy and motivation. Recently just getting out of bed is a huge accomplishment.

Baths for me too. It's the being surrounded by warm water in a cosy space that does it for me. I rarely use bath oils etc. I also feel cold very often, and baths help. Bed helps too, comforting initially, but always worsening my depression.
A successful day would be to be able to get up in the morning reasonably early. to be at work and actually do some work, talk to people and not feel like I am about to break down. Those days are rare. A semi-successful day is if I manage to go into work and not feel that it's been a completely wasted day, that I am a hopeless loser and should have stayed in bed. |

Singing and playing guitar, but I have not been able to do it for years. I do not why.
A semi successful day would be taking proper care of myself instead of just just taking care of my dogs and doing my job. And doing my job well. Lastly I have problems concentrating |

Getting through the work day and still be smiling, even if it's fake most days.

Bathing helps. I bathe several times daily. Practicing good personal hygiene, keeping a clean home and not postponing events and tasks on my calendar lets me know that I am feeling better.

Knowing that if there's one person who unconditionally loves and supports me, it's my husband, and I'm not alone.

I'm glad I'm not the only one....plus I'm very easy to shop for....@nonymous, it's true. When I am organized, I know I'm doing really well. A sense of accomplishment is a sign that I'm truly having a (what is for me) great day.
