Turning back to alcohol to manage is making me sick. I am terrified to tell because of being thrown into hospital again. My Psych Doc will not prescribe any 'benzos' for me, and my symptoms of depression and anxiety are very bad at times. It got so bad a friend gave me half a clonipin. I am also having headaches every day, they are migraines. I'm miserable. My meds are Effexor 450mg; Wellbutrin 450, abilify 10 and prasosin for nightmares. If I drink I get pretty sick, but I'm at the end of the rope, maybe this is just ranting, but I don't know where else to turn. I cannot take the hospital, I will relapse big time and I had been feeling so much better. Don't know what to do.

Hang in there. I feel like I'm at the end of my rope too today. Sometimes just knowing others are going though this is a help...
Thanks for this!

You need some sort of help, but the hospital is not an option. I can understand that.

Right now, are the headaches the #1 problem? Do you have a primary care doctor who would be unlikely to force the hospital?

Turning back to alcohol is the worst thing you could do at this time. Is a rehab clinic an option?

I'm sorry you are going through a hard time. I will never understand the thinking of doctors. I'm guess your doc is concerned about dependence or addiction? Yet he is giving you 450mg of a med that can be harder to withdraw from than a benzo. And he is also giving you 500mg of other meds. I don't see how a doctor can think the possibility of becoming dependent on a benzo is worse than feeling miserable and incapacitated or self medicating with alcohol.
Did the clonazepam help? I don't think it's usually effective immediately.

yes, I have an appt with my GP for the headaches nxt week. I am taking a triptan now so I'm concerned about seratonin syndrome. Thanks for all the advice, I am going to get to the bottom of this.
