Hello & Welcome, Silenceheals.

These are just thought-questions; no need to reply:

Is staying positive a goal in its own right for you, or do you want to have a positive outlook in order to accomplish some other goal? Are the efforts you invest in staying positive yielding any type of positive results? Would those efforts be better spent elsewhere?

Again, Welcome! Please make yourself at home here.

I agree, it is very hard to stay positive; especially when physical problems ail you. It's difficult to learn how to cope by yourself. If you would like someone to talk to, feel free to message me. Sometimes simply talking about how I feel to someone can help me feel better.

You certainly said a mouthful. It is indeed hard to stay positive. There has been some talk on here of a sort of comfort pack that you put together for yourself for when you need to cheer yourself up.

I think it is a good idea to identify those things that distract you, comfort you, ease your pain, cheer you up.

My own go to comfort pack has my pillow and favorite comfy clothes, several dvd's that make me laugh, phone numbers of people that don't know of my depression or pain (too much) so I can have a normal conversation with someone. That often lifts my mood. Also, I like to force myself, and I do mean force, to get out of my house, and take walk or do something active for a little while. It does lift my spirits to get out for even a short while.

I too suffer from chronic pain so I know what it is like to work around that.

I wish you all the best as you work through these hard times.

When I'm deep in my depression, it's hard for me to be positive about anything. Only relief from the depression brings me out of it..
