Hello everyone, I'm new here and struggling with major depression and some anxiety. I ended an emotionally abusive & volatile relationship almost two years ago and within the last year moved back to my hometown for a fresh start & to be closer to family. But I left my friends and depression support group behind and now I'm struggling more than ever both financially & emotionally.

Sorry to hear! And it looks like you've tried a lot of anti-depressants for it! For depression I like Viibryd or even Nefazodone. Sunlight and white light are real helpful for my depression, and focusing on others and helping them, helps me forget about my problems! Best of luck and welcome to p central!!

Yeah, you could say that. My running joke is that I've just about tried everything from A-Z. But in all seriousness, I seem to respond better to SNRI's & SDRI's. The mood stabilizers I was on was because Effexor, my anti-depressant, caused me to swing too far in the other direction & I was hypomanic on it (however testing ruled out bipolar disorder). I've never heard of Viibryd or Nefazodone. Could you tell me a little more about them? Yes, full spectrum light can help individuals with depression in the winter, especially when I live in an area that doesn't get much sunlight in the winter. I have in fact replaced my lightbulbs with full-spectrum daylight bulbs (but need to be careful of the use of artificial light at night, as it can interfere with natural sleep). Well, that's about it for now. I just feel frustrated discouraged by my lack of motivation & energy & grieve the loss of the happy, creative self I had before depression.

Is there anyway you can find a T and another support group where you are? The financial burden must be weighing heavily on your mind.
Thanks for this!

Hi Daeva, sorry it's taken so long for me to reply. I have been seeing a masters degree level psychologist through the local teaching college since last summer and I think we're using a mix of therapeutic approaches. I was fortunate to find a local NAMI peer to peer support group, however they only meet once a month. I did pick up a second part time job this past November & between the two I'm more financially stable & slowly working to pay off my hospital bill, although it's also added more stress.
