I'm taking 40mg celexa. The tablet can be cut in two, so I can go down to 20mg but I don't have a pill splitter to split the half. When I was going up I jumped from 20mg to 40mg, would it be ok to go from 40mg to 20mg?

Pill splitters, are easy to obtain, in the pharmacy. My titration down, involved 10Mg, at a time, as did titration up. How did your pdoc, say to do it?

My dr didnt tell me how. I told him I wanted off all my meds (I take 150mg Lamotrogine, 40mg Celexa and 75mg topiramate) and he said he thinks I should stay on the anti depressants at least until February-April because of seasonal depression. He did tell me ultimately it's my decision. At the moment I don't know weather I will stop or not. I want off all of them, but at the same time I am scared of spiralling out of control with my moods, especially where I am going to be going back to work in the next couple weeks.

Get a pill splitter. It is much safer and makes a better cut. Going down on things slowly is the way to go. I am going off one of my meds and really want to be off of it "yesterday"

I just did what you are planning. I titrated myself down from 40mg to 20mg. I was hypomanic for about two weeks, then crashed. YMMV. I tried going down by splitting the 1/2 a pill, without much success. And only went a few days before I basically realized that I had done the titration ing too soon, and needed to go back on. So PLEASE be careful. I know you probably are like me and just want to pitch them and be done with it, but that is not the answer. You may end up with a worse reaction than what I had.
Good luck. |
