Can anyone give me some advice on this topic? I realize I have a very hard time loving/accepting myself.

Hello and Welcome, Orangered. On the one hand it is easy to find self-esteem and self-acceptance resources. On the other, my personal experience has been counterintuitive: the less I focus on self-acceptance, the fewer mental-emotional resources I devote to it the better I do.
From your other posts I see significant biographical obstacles to developing healthy self-acceptance. Have you worked on that in therapy or on your own?

Hi Orangered,
Helping others has worked for me, although it cannot be the only resource.

Rohag - Yeah, sometimes that works. But sometimes lack of self-esteem hurts a lot and becomes very difficult to 'just ignore and move ahead'.

I think it's important to realize that there are things we can control and things beyond our control. Accept yourself for things that cannot be changed (or at least changed instantaneously) and accept that you are growing bit by bit so it's no wonder why we all get frustrated with ourselves from time to time. Oh! And try to remember that there are plenty of great things about yourself. We often are way too hard on ourselves and beat ourselves up when we should focus on lifting our spirits up!
