Hello, I just joined recently and was given the link to this forum from the new person thread. I just broke up with my boyfriend a few minutes ago. I already have been feeling depression creep back into my life, so I know this breakup could potentially cause me to spiral downward. We ended things amicably enough, but I do still love him and wish it could have worked out. Logically, it was for the best. It just still hurts and I want to at least vent a little bit and get it out there now to help take the weight of the sadness off. I've already been carrying enough sadness around. I don't even really know what else to say or what to ask for, but I'm trying to take the positive steps and begin moving forward and not let myself spiral down further.
Hugs from:

I think that posting this is a great decision. I think that if more people asked for support before they hit rock bottom, then the world would be better. I don't really have any advice about the break up, but I will say that it might help to vent to someone in your life.

Yeah, I have to one person. Oddly before we actually broke up. I knew this was coming. It's just hard to deal with missing him and with the depression I already feel. It's hard to talk about in person too because I tend to start crying when I talk about emotional issues. This forum at least lets me express myself where people can understand me, and not try to decipher what I'm saying between sobs . I will make sure to connect with people in person too though, for sure. Thank you.

I hear you Acceber.

It does hurt, and I wanted to acknowledge how you are feeling.

I also wanted to congratulate you on how brave you are to pre-emptively discuss the breakup before going through with it.

You rock, and I don't think I could have been so brave. Woot woot.

Hello & Welcome Acceber. My regrets for the recent triggering event.

By all means use these forums to slow the spiral and hopefully prevent it from taking you so low.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I've been doing pretty well and spent most of the weekend with friends, which has helped a lot. Now that I've been home though, and alone with my thoughts, I can feel some sad thoughts trying to creep back in. My ex and I were pretty good friends as well, so I'm feeling like I'm losing a good friend. But I'm determined to keep pushing forward. I've had some pretty low points in my past, and I don't want to let myself get to that place again.

I sympathize....It's ironic that the one person that we would go to for help after a breakup is the one we have broken up with....
Hugs to you. And distract yourself in whatever way you need to.
Thanks for this!
