I really thought I was going to get engaged over the holidays. Apparently not. My boyfriend took me to look at rings in October so I thought now would be the time. He said the main reason he is waiting is financial.

Oh Yack,

I'm sorry. I know you had your heart set on a ring for Christmas. But he still loves you, right? I'm sure that's all it is, is that he can't afford it right now.
I hope you will get a ring for Valentine's Day.

Linda

I'm sorry. Perhaps the delay will be worth it later? no engagement

A good financial plan is great! No reason to begin something where you are constantly struggling to keep up and never getting to enjoy life as you go.

You could point him in the direction of QVC's diamonique rings...gorgeous.

I can really relate to your disappointment Yack. When my husband was stuck in a depressed episode, he really felt like a failure because he couldn't afford to buy me a nice ring. At the same time, I was really scared that I was supporting him all that time but that I was perpetuating that cow/milk thing. I truly didn't care if all he gave me was a rubber band for a ring - or, he could have drawn one on me with a sharpie - I just wanted a gesture of where his heart was.

So, I understand your disappointment and my heart goes out to you no engagement
