I'm been taking Clonazapam for over ten years now as needed. A natural food/supplement store suggested Happy Camper. My Primary doctor has never heard of Happy Camper, but a nurse elsewhere indicated there could be some dangerous interactions by taking the two.
My intent is to balance the two so I'm not taking so much Clonazapam. Where can I find out if there is a danger? Thanks! |

Well, a little help from the internet reveals:
Happy Camper Review & Research into How it Works & Ingredients There's a lot of separately listed herbs that are in these pills. The work should probably be done by the primary MD (that's what they're paid for), but look up the names of the supplements/herbs to see if there is a problem...but, for what it's worth, look at this: Herbal & Vitamins With Klonopin | LIVESTRONG.COM |

Here's a 12-year-old notice from the US FDA: Kava-Containing Dietary Supplements May Be Associated with Severe Liver Injury
The advisory does not mention "Happy Camper," though I understand it contains kava-kava (and other ingredients including caffeine). Lots of things can affect the liver. If I were to start on Happy Camper, I'm sure my doctor would watch my liver levels (blood tests) even more closely. Several years of being on Depakote pushed my liver to the limit.

Still a newbie and for some reason I didn't get e-mail notices of responses; hopefully fixed now. Haven't looked at the suggested links yet, but my Primary "inherited" prescribing the Clonazapam. My shrink retired. My primary would prefer a shrink prescribe the mental meds, but schedule conflicts prevent me from finding a new one.

Yeah, the articles definitely suggest I wasted money on Happy Camper; with the only benefit in discontinuing the use of the "chill pills" (as I call Clonazapam). Have been off work since buying Happy Camper and no need for the chill pills, so I really haven't taken them together yet. Not sure if I want to now.
Thanks for the advice! Any SAFE suggestions for using my chill pills with something else? |
