This morning I finally went to the doctor's office to get a referral to a psychiatrist. I've been searching for a good one for months because there are no adult psychiatrists that are accepting new patients within 30 miles of my home. In all honesty, I don't really want to go, I don't like meeting new people and my anxiety shoots way up just thinking about it. Right now I don't even know when I can get in for an appointment because there's only one that is accepting new patients and his office is about 45 minutes to an hour away.
Even though I really don't want to go to the appointment, I know I have to because I've been having a really hard time lately. My doctor also thinks I have bipolar disorder, ADD, and Schizophrenia. So, yea. Not really too happy right now. ![]()

I understand the hesitancy about going to an appointment. I have a close friend who is a psychiatrist. Before I went to an appointment, I talked with him for a couple of hours about getting help, concluded that he should be the prescribing MD, then mulled it over, faced the anxieties, and saw a different MD that I didn't know...sure, it was rough, but the outcome was better than the alternative in that, for a while there, I got well. Though I'm in a bit of a depressive haze now, I would not hesitate to drive a bit for an appointment, particularly if there is some relief possible. I wish you well in your endeavor.
