Does anyone have a encouraging/recovery reminder? Maybe a small figurine, coin, necklace, bracelet, or even tattoo. There was a therapist I saw once when T was gone that had a ring that he said was a reminder of life and I don't remember the rest. Over the past year I've been looking for something on and off. I'm not much into jewelry, but I'd love to have a simple meaningful bracelet. I've heard of people getting tattoos also, but I'm not much into getting one. Does anyone have anything like this and wouldn't mind sharing information about it?

Hello, dolphingirl. At one point, I had a stone given to me by my therapist.

I have several things, but they are more as reminders or grounding objects. I make jewlery, and I recently put togehter a bracelet based on an inspiring song. I also have a small glass "stone" given to me by my first therapist. I have a grounding bracelet I made one time during a hospital stay (I can un-loop part of it and fiddle with it), and I have my wedding ring that I often stare at or play with to remind me that there are reasons for sticking around this life... is that what you meant? Oh, I have a glass pendant that looks like it has a little universe inside it. I'm quite attached to it, and it kinda reminds me about the bigger picture of life. There are several tattoos also that mean various things or (try to) remind me of something meaningful.

Encouraging/recovery reminders/jewelry or even tattoos

It has seriously seriously helped.
I got it at the end of 2012.
It looks a bit funny here- but that was taken just after I got it done.
It has been amazingly helpful and calming in times of distress to just have it RIGHT THERE. Just two little words- world of difference sometimes.

I have this on my wrist. I got it done 2 years ago as I was coming out of a very dark place. I don't regret getting it done at all - it reminds me how difficult things were and therefore how far I have come, it also symbolises strength to me, so that when things are feeling difficult, I know they will pass.

I must say though, it has had an addictive quality for me and although I have not had another one, I am fairly sure I will start to "collect" them.

I recently found my 10 year AA coin. The big brass coin I got when I had ten years sober. I have so many of those coins they lost interest and meaning for me. Stumbling on this one however struck a cord.

I decided to use it as a good luck piece as my daughter and I were about to drive across the country in my 190,000 mile car and I was having a lot of anxiety about it breaking down. She was anxious as well. So we both held the coin and rubbed it when we were anxious on the road. It worked and my car did great and we had a great trip. I credit the coin for this. It has the serenity prayer on it.

Also in the past I have used worry rocks a lot. Rocks have some meaning to me and I would find a cool little one and leave it in my pocket and rub it and play with it when I was stressed. It is grounding.

This is exactly what I mean. I think you're lucky to have so many of them.

I have a silver pendant. A puzzle piece that reminds me I can't fit in any place. I thought in that in my worst moment. Now reminds me that there was a time when I saw no future but later came a lot of good things. So I only have to wait till bad times go away.
