Offshoot of my hospital thread as this is very much about life outside of that situation.

Just received a text from the girl that worked in our office and had already been on long term sick due to anxiety before I started my stay in hospital. Has told me she has been made redundant and it's just hollowed me out that little bit more, sadness and mourning I guess.

She was expecting it to happen and text me to let me know before anyone else... ironically, she's been the only one from work who has cared enough to be in touch at all since I got admitted to hospital with exception to update emails from my Boss who simply wants to know when I'm coming back.

Sent her a text back to express how much I'm going to miss her and that I hope we stay in touch... even invited her to come visit me, though with her anxiety I doubt she'll take me up on it.... said it was her call and I understood either way.

She was one of the few (if only person) that made work bearable due to how well we got on with each other.

Anyway, thought I'd share

Ouch TJ - losing your favorite work mate is hard ... for both of you. Hope you can be supportive of her without letting this get you down or tank the progress you are making. It wouldn't help her anyway. But your friendship will.
Thanks for this!

"Ouch" - a polite way of putting it, but I agree. I wish your friend better settings for her future activities.

Thanks both, been texting her back and forth this morning and after a chat with the wife (she wants me to try some home leave this Sunday to see how I cope) it was suggested that we invite my friend and her daughter over for the afternoon (my friend and I had been trying to sort out when would be a good time to meet up and were having problems with double booking lol)... she said yes, so will be seeing her Sunday for a general catch up which will be nice. She has a brutal sense of humour that is very refreshing and it should be fun.

Sounds like a good plan TJ - wish you some warm friendship and laughs.
