Rough day at work. By now everybody at work has either pegged me as sick or crazy. I get talked about or I get treated like a 5 year old. I am told "don't freak out today." My migraine headaches are improving but in order to get any relief from the migraines my doctors have had to increase my Topamax to the maximum safe dosage. I am starting to experience weird side effects. I feel dizzy, drunk, forget things. I get nauseated. I can feel my cognitive and intellectual ability slipping. I really don't want to become a disability case. One good thing, I am so sick and goofy I don't pay that much attention to all the nasty attitudes anymore. My best friend even mouthed off to me today.

The head doctor at work has had a nasty attitude with everybody. He barely talks to me anymore which I suppose is good because he talks to everybody else like trash. Maybe, like everyone else he can tell I am sick and he is cutting me a little slack by not yelling at me. Nobody is happy at the office.

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time at work. Sometimes the rough times are out in the open and sometimes they are behind people's backs. Talk to your doc and tell them about the symptoms and what other combinations might be helpful.
There are not any easy fixes, but sometimes there are lifestyle changes that can be made that do make a difference. If any of these I tried appeal to you, they are simple solid ways to help right the boat. Hope you feel better soon.
Here are lifestyle changes that may not solve your problems but may help to keep them from getting blown into bigger ones than they need to.
Food can be a source of health or it can be fuel on the fire of depression. A high protein diet, either or both vegetable (tofu, soy products) and animal (yogurt, milk, eggs (the whites are all protein, the yokes are all fat, chicken range fed preferred, wild caught fish) Cut down or cut out carbos and feel the difference. Fruit can be subbed for desserts. Nuts can be a sub for snacks.
Yoga (youtube.com) exercise or walking, meditation (follow the breath 5-15 minutes on awakening and before sleeping)
Listen to soothing music and you may find yourself relaxing. I like new age or soft jazz instrumental help me relax enough to go to sleep - a very important part of staying in balance. (I notice you have the Titanic smiley - keep bailing the ship will not go down-lol)
Thanks for this!

Hello, waterknob1234. Do your doctors know what is going on?

I wish you well.

I feel so ill this morning I hate the mere thought of going in to work. I feel nauseated. I feel weak. I miss the days when I felt healthy. I dread the attitudes and the workload I am going to face. I feel trapped. I really want another job. I always say I am going to apply for another job and by the time I finish my 10-11 hour work day I am too ill and exhausted to look for another job. I am tired. I am sinking. My hope is fading.

Work can be just terrible on depression. I mean work usually sucks first of all under the best of conditions. Then you add a chemical imbalance in.
I didn't want to but I did go on disability this year. I just cannot hack work anymore.

I do hope you find a cure for your migraines soon. I had a migraine today, the first in months, luckily it responded first time to a cheap over the counter remedy. Changing from an SNRI anti-depressant to one that works on melatonin instead of serotonin was the biggest help in reducing my migraines.

Do SSRI's cause migraines? I am now on Wellbutrin and Prozac. The wellbutrin seems to help some. I might be a basketcase if I take neither. Just had 90 days worth of both ordered by my doctor. Who knows. I have been on and off so many meds I am becoming a little confused with things anyway.

Headache (not specifically migraine) is usually listed as a side effect for most anti-depressants, so if you are vulnerable then it could well be contributing and making things worse. With me it was trial and error, so Prozac and Effexor were notably bad at triggering migraines while Celexa and Cymbalta were less problematic but I still occasionally got caught.

I don't know if you keep a journal or not, but it was by looking back at what meds I was on and counting the frequency of migraines that I spotted that Prozac was by far and away the biggest culprit for me.

Hope you get some relief soon.
