Hello, I'm 22 y/o and I currently have depression. I need opinions on what to do because everyday I say I will do something to change my life but I end up in my bed the whole day.
Someone help me,I've been like this for 3 months going to 4 months.I have a career but I do not feel comfortable getting a job yet. Also I forgot to mention that I am new to this forum. Another thing is that I am on Wellbutrin for 3 weeks and I haven't seen an improvement. Thanks for anyone's response. ![]() ![]() |

Hi chicana, firstly welcome to PC!!!
![]() You know sometimes with depression you can say whatever you want to yourself but doing it is completely different, and there's no amount of telling yourself............it just isn't going to happen. Meaning sometimes you might need a little extra support either getting medication/s right or the therapy route, whichever is best for you. But, are there any particular things you're saying you'll do to change your life? Because sometimes we can start thinking of the bigger things we may need/want to be doing whereas even the "smaller", "tiny" goals e.g. getting up more, getting a shower, going for a short walk may be all we can do, but are nevertheless a MASSIVE start in trying to change our lives. And they're going to count just as much as something like getting a job to begin with.........it can sometimes be about starting somewhere, and trying to push those boundaries as much as you can. It can take time, but.............. And if you can think of any motivations at all in giving you just a bit of a push (??), as you do clearly want this. As for the medication, there's a chance it hasn't fully kicked in yet, although it might be that it does need increasing. Dosages will often start on the lower side with room to move up if needed. Sometimes finding the right medication/doses can take time. But don't hesitate in getting back to your doctor, hey? It is really good that you've reached out for that help, keep it going!!! And now you're here as well!! ![]() ![]() Alison |

You probably have to give the Wellbutrin more time. If it doesn't work try something else. Therapy with meds it seems to be agreed upon is the best approach. There are other things you can do on your own over time. Set very small goals and don't beat yourself up if you don't meet them. by small goals I even mean brushing your teeth. Taking a shower can be a huge accomplishment. Eating something. I know how debilitating it can be.
