Hi all,

I went to my therapy appointment yesterday. She hasn't made a complete diagnosis, we still have some questions to go through, but she seems to think I might have a Mood Disorder along with my depression. Does anyone have this and if so what about the medication.

I have an appointment with my reg. doctor to talk to her about my welbutrin and also the slight chance it could be early signs of menopause.Bad mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, I mean it could just be the meds.

Thanks

Thanks SeptemberMorn

Believe me I am hoping it is Early signs of Menapause. Its just when you hear the words Mood Stabalizer or Mood Inhancers it kind of scares me. If it evens me out then great but I don't, not want to have a mood or feel. But I am sure I am jumping the gun on this, I just wanted to hear ya'lls opinion.

Hi,
Well I can't relate to menopause, because I am a male. Although I think your T is doing the right thing by having the physical aspects of post menopause checked out before diagnosing a Mood disorder.

I have Bi Polar, a mood disorder I think. There are many diffrent types of Bi polar, and options for medication. Mood stabalizers are not much different than medications like antidepressants, only there are different types of mood stabilizers depending on the sypmptoms a person is having. My Pdoc told me that they help keeping me on an even line of extreme ups and extreme downs. I don't understand the tecnical stuff of it all. Just that they help me.

I hope you have success in getting this worked out Best Wishes

Take Care,

Mood disorder is also considered depression as well...along with manic depression (Bipolar), major depression, Cyclothymia, and Dysthymia ....

Don't fret it most of us here deal with depressive disorders, people can live with it..................Take care, and try not to worry...

Hi! I have manic depression, PTSD, thyroid disorder and am in perimenapause. I'm glad you have a doc that is looking at your body as a whole. When I found a doc that did that, the help I recieved was great! As far as mood stabalizers making you not feel, that has never been my experience. My moods are just more "normal" now. When I get angry, I don't flip out. When I feel sad, I don't usually have to crawl under the covers. The speedy mania feeling is gone. The out of control feeling is gone. I still think I'm moody, but it's more just my personality than my bi-polar :-)
Good luck to you. It may take some time for them to get everything straight but it sounds like you're on the right path.
