Ever since I attempted to come out to my mom yesterday, I've feeling depressed and I don't know what to do. My mom handled it with such a malicious manner, so I don't know... It's just really hurt me.

I'm really sorry irgendwie, I wish your mom was more supportive of you. Are you in school? Do you have a school counselor you can talk to?

Hi irgendwie, I'm really sorry your mom reacted in that way
![]() It was a big step to take in telling her, and I would have hoped that she could have been supportive towards you. It might be that she needs some help in understanding and when she can do that she'll be more supportive, but either way, right now it's you who matters. Is there anyone you can talk to about how you're feeling/what's going on for you, or do you want to talk to us a bit more about how things are.............we're right here for you if you do/can. ![]() Alison |

Hi
I don't think we have met. I agree with posters above. What you feel is completely understandable. Making yourself that vulnerable to someone that you love and to feel rejected is bound to leave you pretty battered. On the plus side, as you probably know (since you found this group), there are lots of resources and support to be found these days. Depending on whom you identify as there are plenty of support groups, advocacy units, and counseling groups dedicated to helping both you and your family. I hope this helps, and does not sound condescending. These days I open my mouth and my mom falls out. Anyways, lots of love coming from this corner of the planet. |

Hi irgendwie, I can imagine that was a very hurtful experience. We usually expect mom to be helpful. Who knows, she may need time to adjust to the things you told her. My heart goes out to you. We are here and willing to listen if you need us.

I had my first bad bout of depression after coming out to my mom. It didn't go well at all and honestly 15 years later and it all still hurts. We always hope for unconditional love from our parents but unfortunately that doesn't always happen. I will say that my mom has finally accepted things but it did take her awhile to come around.
