I was prescribed an SSRI medication two weeks ago and have been taking it as prescribed. I'm feeling little or no improvement and the prescribing doctor offered no follow up appointment. This will be the fourth antidepressant I've taken for severe chronic depression and anxiety. I confess I'm feeling hopeless and am tired of what has become an existence rather than the life I once dreamt of and the life I worked for. I wonder if anyone has been in a similar situation and found hope. I've also been in therapy which didn't help. I abhor the thought of opening up to another professional. I wish I could slip away quietly in my sleep. I'm feeling more and more that my work here is done. Yet I feel very guilty feeling this way, as there is one in this world who loves me.

please don't give up. that dr was irresponsible prescribing without followup. I was suicidally hopeless for thirty years. but the right antidepressant and the right therapy at the right time seemed to be the magic wand I was hoping for all those years and my life totally turned around. I cant believe the difference. I know changing meds is really really really a pain in the ***, but I just did that over and over, monthly, every two months until I found the one that worked. I didn't let drs up my dosage or make me stay on it forever thinking it would kick in....if it didn't work in a month or so, it wasn't going to in my books. I really had to advocate for myself and drs wre frustrated with that but as far as I was concerned they worked for me. there are tons of meds out there and I was going to find the one that worked. and I did. you can too.
