I started on Prozac this past January and switched to Wellbutrin in August. Prozac helped lift me from my severe depression but the Wellbutrin helps me focus on being proactive about rebuilding my life. Overall, I think I'm in a much better place mentally than I was in the past but yesterday I felt like I was sucked into that vortex again. That bottomless black hole of hopelessness and negative thinking. I spent most of my day in bed crying. It seemed to have come out of no where, too. I thought the meds were supposed to help me stabilize my mood? I would love to hear some feedback on this if you have any.
So of those you who are satisfied with your prescription(s), how many feel their depression return and lift?

Since last March I have been very satisfied with Fetzima. I say satisfied because it has worked better that any other and I have been on most of them in the last twenty years. I still got a bunch of 3 day pretty bad mini depressions since I started. In recent months it has been worse and I have upped the dose. My doc says there is a battle going on between my depression and the med. I dunno about that. Hard to say why it works and then the depression over powers it.

Meds are not a cure all. They help you work on things that should help prevent depression, therapy, work, family, friends, support network, etc.

It is normal to have ups and downs even on meds. You might need an increase in dosage, or some other treatment. Do let your doc know if you are having problems.

I have taken Wellbutrin before and did ok on it. Tried prozac and didnt like it. Have been on Zoloft for years and doing well, but have ups and downs.

Yeah I do. I'm taking Wellbutrin 150mg now and I still have days where I am down and feel horrible. My pdoc just upped it to 300mg so we'll see how that works out. I do feel more motivated but many times I have difficulty sleeping.

More downs than ups...not sure about this medication yet; though I've read that viibryd takes a long time to actually work. For right now, it's just been downs and the only thing up is my weight.
