I can't think properly anymore.
I'm not on any meds.
I'm only capable of passive activities - TV, reading, lying on bed, light housework. Nothing that engages my brain.
I feel so stupid.

Hi BBB2, welcome to PC!!!
It sounds like you're having a really hard time, I'm sorry
But just know that feeling the way you do, does not make you stupid!! Not in the least!! Having and experiencing the effects of depression, doesn't make you any more "stupid" than if you had a physical ailment and were trying to cope with the effects of that. And the effects of depression can be seriously hard to cope with at times.
So, I'm glad you've joined us here at PC, there are so many understanding and supportive people on here and lots of information in helping you cope with and move on from this. There aren't usually any "quick fixes" but you've found a really good place to start for advice and support. You're not on your own.
And things can get better..........maybe it could take meds (or maybe not) although there will be other things you can try too.
So hope you stick with us.........and again.........welcome to PC!!!!

Alison

Have you consulted anyone about this? I would see a doctor straight away because it sounds like you are depressed. A doctor is capable of making a complete assessment to see if there is any other medical conditions. For me once I get to the stage where I can barely function only medication makes any difference. Once the depression has lifted you can look at dietary and lifestyle improvements. Things such as exericse, yoga, various supplements, meditation and massage can make a difference. These things are much easier said than done of course. It seems that one of the biggest innfluences on mood is our relationships. I would guess that many of us here are struggling with this.
Thanks for this!

For me this sluggishness is the cause of my low mood rather than a symptom. I'm finding it harder to push through it as I've been able to in the past.
Thank you for your suggestions. I've tried improving my diet. I do need to exercise more. Maybe I am slipping into depression.
Thanks for replying.

Hi BBB2,

Check out post #45 in this thread

http://forums.psychcentral.com/depre...n-escaped.html

for possible medical issues. I really suggest you watch that video from Mark Hyman. He is the best source I know of for brain/depression related issues.
