If I recall correctly, Dorothy Rowe (psychologist) described "mental illnesses" as "desperate defences" against our "greatest fear". According to Rowe (if I recall correctly) Extraverts' (as defined by her) greatest fear is "total abandonment" and Introverts' (as defined by her) greatest fear is "complete chaos"...
(I haven't read Rowe for many years although I always liked her, so forgive any mistakes or inaccuracies ![]() I have certainly found her more helpful than any medical "help" for Depression or other mh dxs? in the UK ![]() ![]()

That makes sense, many things come down to fear, for me depression is a fear of actually living and enjoying life. For me, anxiety is the fear of the unknown.

Thanks a lot, Fuzzy, I did not know this author. I agree with you and others here that fear is a big deal for our mental health. I remember the bible saying that the opposite to love is fear. Also, I do not know if you have read "Escape from freedom" by Erich Fromm. Also it talks about fear from a sociology point of view, I think
