I failed my final exam today. It was the easiest exam ever, but I failed it. I'm probably the most stupid person to walk on earth. I didn't even know the final was today because I'm so irresponsible and dumb. I'm a failure. I thought I was better than this but I'm a waste of life, I'm nothing, I won't be anything in the future, I won't be successful, I will just disappoint everyone who believes in me. I always slack and choose to sleep all morning instead of make goals to achieve something in life. I see people around me my age in their 20s with jobs and cars and doing really well in college, but me? I ain't s#@t, high school filled my head with false tittles and I got into college thinking I was smart. Graduating valedictorian? That don't mean s#@t I didn't deserve that because I'm dumb stupid and just realized it. I don't have ambition or goals and I feel like I will fail at everything. I don't know what i want. I'm studying to become an accountant, which is probably a dumb decision, but I know I won't make it, I would like to be a dancer too but I'm not that talented to make it far. If I died now it would be ok because a couple years from now I will be the same failure and lazy piece of s#@t I am right now.

Good night everybody.

I am sorry you are struggling. You are being very hard on yourself.

Two different times in my life I got straight A's in college, hard classes like chemistry, biology, calculus, and then the next semester failed every class. This is because I went into the deep depression and couldn't hang. The previous semester when I got straight A's I was motivated and liked it......then bam.

The thing is depression has nothing to do with intelligence, being dumb or stupid or lazy. If you were valedictorian that is a huge accomplishment.

I don't know if you have depression but if you do it is not something you can really help. Not if your like me. The first order of business is treating the depression. Beating our selves up over how lazy and dumb and what failures we are only makes the depression worse.

I used to have depression before and it used to last long but I has stopped happening, it used to be terrible. But you're right, maybe I'm not depressed but upset and frustrated about everything I failed my final exam, now I'm so depressed.

Thank you for the reply

But what is preventing you from succeeding in school now if you were valedictorian? That would be my question? I don't buy that it is because you are lazy and stupid.

I agree with Zinco, you are not lazy or stupid. I think stress might be a major factor and maybe depression as well. And there is no shame in that.

Is this your first semester? University is a completely different environment than high school. The expectations and very different teaching style can be extremely overwhelming and even intimidating. It doesn't mean you can't do it. Most students struggle at first and eventually figure out how to study. Schools usually have services to help students. Have you tried any?

Are you enjoying accounting? If not that will make it so much harder to succeed.

Depression can definitely interfere with school. I know this because I lost the last academic year. It sucked the life and motivation out of me. Attending class was almost impossible.

I'm just less enthusiastic now, is so hard for me to work at my full potential, I'm tired of school and I'm not optimist when it comes to the career I chose it's so complicated ugh!!

This is my third semester and I've done well in all my classes the lowest grade I've gotten since I started college is a B- but I can't help it to be hard on myself I'm so pessimist I lack motivation and enthusiasm, I'm just doing college cuz is being paid for so I don't have to spend a single cent. It's hard to see myself as successful in the future T.T
