Hi everyone who is reading this:

I came across a post a week or so ago concerning men & emotions, particularly the issue of men & crying. I thought it was a great post and I wanted to comment & add my support, but I got busy & it slipped my mind. I forget who the original poster was. Nor can I find the thread.

Does anyone remember it? Remember the forum? Thread name?

Have to run, but just wanted to say: I think that men who have the courage to express their sadnesss/crying openly have NOTHING to be ashamed about.......it is a very strong attribute, imho. I think that society may have less problems if we could embrace this ideal, rather than tend to reject it. (Not all of us reject it, though, I know.....I shouldn't over-generalize).

Anyway. My two cents by,

Des.

hi des some men do cry it aint part of the western culture though a lot of men suppress their tears with alcohol, work ,aggression, i have wept buckets over losses and my depression i think they are better out but not sure if they are healing i still stuggle with mental health issues would i be worse if i had not cried? don't know .when i cry i feel helpless, not a great situation to be in if i'm not in good company or a safe space.there is an idea that the chemicals in tears are different depending on what you cry about i guess crying is a response to a stimulus--- big subject!!

Hi Jeff,

I know; some men do.....some men feel they can't. I wish I could change that. It must be so difficult. I say kudos to anyone, male or female for crying -- takes courage, but really, it shouldn't...........it's a natural reaction. Just like laughing. ** sigh **

Yes, I feel pretty helpless, too, when I cry. But after, I feel better, usually. If ever you need a friend here when you are crying, PM me & I will try to help.

That is very interesting re: dif chems in tears dep on nature of the cry. I heard that tears actually contain toxins (so as to release them from body).

Wow. Human body is an amazing thing, sometimes.

Take good care, Jeff.

Did all of my crying as a child. Stopped at 14. Just don't think I'm capable of crying anymore.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
