Like severely, or is it something else? I know anxiety and depersonalization can do this too but i definitely notice my mind is a lot slower since i got sick/worse symptoms.

I think depression can definitely do this! I find when I'm depressed I forget where I put EVERYTHING

Depression makes my brain very slow. Firing on one out of eight cylinders.

Yes it is! It's like walking through knee high mud when you're used to walking on pavement! Thoughts are really slowed down.

Absolutely! I have dysthymia which not only slows my brain down but also crushes any desire to make any moves to help myself. 'I just don't feel like it' or 'I'm too tired to even think about it' or 'It's hopeless, so what's the point in trying', etc. I also have a strong sense of detachment from life, from emotions and from people in general. There's no joy in such an existence.

I feel similar to what your describing. Is that all dysthymia symptoms? How is it different than general depression?

I'm pretty sure it does. I've been losing things, forgetting things, and processing things a lot slower than I normally would've been. Typically, I'm just fine, but then depression kicks in and tries to shut everything down, just about.

Other symptoms: constant lower level depression, flattening of mood, suppression of emotions, inability to enjoy life, general dulling down of senses. This may sound impossible but it's true. I'm unable to cry, no matter how much I want or need to, and the last time I was actually able to cry was in the mid-1970s. No lie.
