i've been thinking about this now since i read another thread in the anxiety section, and i thought i'd post it here and see what your thoughts are
do you think that their is an actual wrong way to live life, so that when you do get to the end you can look back and say.... yeah, i admit, i've failed majorly the main question that i've been thinking about is, is their a right or wrong age to do something not really sure where this thread will go, but here it is... out their what are your thoughts on actually failing in life. |

Nope. You can't fail at life, because the only "have" in life is to be born and eventually die. You were born, you're living. Therefore you're not a failure!
![]() Of course, then you put in all of our perceptions on what life "should" be like and how we "should" all be and what we "should" all be doing... and then it gets complicated. If you are happy enough with where and how you are, then you're a success. If you aren't happy and content with where you are, then work towards changing it. If what makes you happy isn't what society in general deems as acceptible, well, screw them ![]()

I found this and thought it was fitting, because I like to see life as a journey.
I don't think you can fail. I think you can have regrets and should work hard to have as few of these as possible, but I don't think they make you a failure.

I think the only way you can fail at life is if you've made the conscious decision to give up even in the midst of opportunity. I think life gives us more chances than any of us realize or choose to admit and I think the real failure occurs when we decide to avoid those chances and basque in or sorrows, rather than work for triumph.

I think it is up to each individual to define what failure and success means to them. If you can strip out all of societies expectations and definitions, family and parental expectations and definitions, and really define it for yourself that is a good thing. Very difficult to do because all those influences are ingrained in us. It is up to us to decide with values, beliefs, morals, and ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving work for us. If there are things we don't like in those areas how hard have we worked to change them. Maybe by all definitions my life is an abject failure but I truly helped one person along the way. That might make it a success. Letting other help me and me helping others is pretty important to me even if it is not in the form of volunteering for every organization out there.
